Positions needed on a game day...

Each family is asked to volunteer for 5 game day positions throughout the lacrosse season. This is roughly once per week as the boys play about 3 games a week. We have more home games this year than last and will need more volunteers. Some positions are required and these need to be filled first. If we are shorthanded, we will ask you to help.

  • Spotter (on sidelines): Primary assignment is to call out to statistician the players (numbers) to track: goals, assists, shots, turnovers, caused turnovers, ground balls, saves, faceoff win/loss, clears, penalties. (Penalties with a running clock begin when play resumes.)
  • Stats (on sidelines): Primary assignment is to record all stats as called out by spotter. Will also record time of goals and keep time for penalty releases. Coaches have stats book and pen, it’s helpful to bring a roster.
    • Scorebook Tutorial
  • Game Clock: Varsity game time is four periods of 12 minutes (may be 10 min. for JV if both coaches agree). Clock is stopped after each goal and restarted after each face off. The refs will signal when to stop/start the clock in other situations. Half-time is generally 10 minutes. Running clock for goal differential of 12 or more for second half only (exception: stop the clock for injuries/time-outs). Overtime is “sudden-victory” and clock set for 4 minutes. Instructions on how to set/run the clock & scoreboard is detailed in the booth.
  • Penalty Box (on field) Helps keep track of time when one of our players is in the box
  • Game Announcer: Begin each game by playing the National Anthem (download and play from personal mobile device or CD). Announce teams. Announce start of the game, mention “visit the concession stand” (when/if open), and any other team announcements.
  • Photographer: Photograph all players and coaches with action shots, sidelines, etc. Looking to have at least 10 action shots per players to utilize at the banquet. Upload photos from each game (in a timely manner) to: a Google Photo Album. Create an individual album and label with the game, date, and level.  For example: "Varsity- Father Gabriel Richard on 4/3/24" or "JV- FGR- 4/3/24"
  • Videographer: Record game on personal device, or team iPad, and upload to “hudl” website. See coach Conley for more details.
